The Holocaust Memorial has been vandalized for the second time in as many months. The police have arrested somebody for these disgraceful act that took place on Monday evening. Holocaust memorials are seen to be a target by law enforcement and have been known to have added security.
Witnesses described a young man throwing rocks at the glass as the police were called. The Holocaust is still very much a “living” major issue to many people in America and around the world; when this kind of senseless vandalism takes place, it is far worse than just regular damages to public property.
The Memorial represents history, and some on Social Media have made a connection between what happened in Boston and what is happening to Civil War statues around the country. They see it as an erasure of history…One by the state, and the other by mindless thugs.
Memorials are not there to remind us only of good things and pleasant days, they are there to remind us of things that happened and that should never be forgotten.
The Holocaust Memorial in Boston has been vandalized for the second time in less than two months, police say.
Police say one person is in custody for vandalizing the Holocaust Memorial Monday evening.
A witness tells Boston 25 News someone threw a rock at the memorial, shattering the glass. Police have not released any information on the person in custody.
It was just over a month and a half ago when the memorial was vandalized. A 21-year-old from Roxbury was arrested and charged for that destruction.
