Breaking: Senator Ralph Shortey Caught in Hotel Room With Teenage Boy, Charges Forthcoming

A state senator is in serious trouble. Oklahoma senator Ralph Shortey was caught in a hotel room with a young teenage boy, a few condoms, and a bottle of lotion. The incident occurred March 9th 2017. The teenage boy’s father called police after he became concerned about his child’s relationship with Shortey. The father said his child has been known to solicit sex to support his drug addiction. When police arrived at the hotel the occupants refused to open the door. A man finally left them in. Police say the room smelled of marijuana. They discovered Shortey, a teenage boy, condoms, and lotion when searching the room.

There is no further information available on this incident, as the police report is heavily redacted. Cleveland County District Attorney Greg Mashburn said Wednesday that he could not say what charges might be filed against the senator, however many expect charges could be filed as soon as Thursday March 16th, 2017.

Taught High School Boys

Many wondered if the teenage boy was from the counseling class for high school boys. Shortey has taught the class for the past 6 years. The director assured the local media this wasn’t the case. There are safeguards in place to ensure none of the boys were ever alone with a counselor.

Senate takes immediate action

The Oklahoma Senate immediately went into action. The senate voted 43-0 for a resolution that accuses him of “disorderly behavior.” This resolution removes Shortey from membership and leadership of various Senate committees. It also bars him from occupying his office and reserved parking spot at the Capitol, blocks his expense allowances and authorship of bills, and revokes his right to have an executive assistant.

Trump Campaign Chairman

Shortey was also chairman of the Trump campaign for Oklahoma.
