Reports are coming out via Fox that the Russian Lawyer, Natalia Veselnitskaya, had meetings with Fusion GPS co-founder, Glenn Simpson both before and after her meeting with Donald Trump Jr.
We already know that Fusion GPS was being paid by both the DNC and the Clinton campaign (millions of dollars) to do “opposition research” (or in reality, to dig up or create dirt), so what are their dealings with Miss Veselnitskaya all about?
Is it beyond the realms of possibility that a company who would fake a dossier to discredit a presidential candidate would have moral objections to setting up a sting operation, too? Likely not. We know that the Russian lawyer was in the pay of Fusion GPS and that they were, in fact, the group who she put down as her employers when applying for a visa to the US. So she worked for a company that was actively involved in trying to bring down Donald Trump, and then just happened to have a meeting with his son, about the campaign, just by coincidence!?!?!?
This whole thing stinks of dirty tricks. Don Jr. could have saved himself a lot of trouble by taking the high road, so we can criticize him for attending the meeting, but it is nowhere near the same league as these tricksters and conmen.
And if this was a sting, what of the other people in the Trump campaign who may or may not have met with Russians? How many of these were likely sting operations?
The only way to avoid these traps is to be morally better than your opponents, perhaps that is the lesson we should take away?
