Hate Crime: Army Lieutenant Stabbed To Death Days Before Graduation

A man who was just commissioned into the U.S. ARMY as a 2nd Lieutenant was stabbed to death days before he graduated college in a possible hate crime attack.  Richard Collins III was standing with 2 friends at a bus stop at the University of Maryland waiting for an Uber driver. The group was approached by Sean Christopher Urbanski, 22, of Severna Park. Christopher was a student at the University of Maryland, he told Collins he “had better step left if he knew what was best for him.” When the Army Lieutenant refused, Urbanski fatally stabbed him in the chest. Officers that arrived on the scene tried to perform CPR, however Collins could not be saved, he later died in the hospital.

At first local police reported this as a “unprovoked attack.” Then someone pointed out Urbanski was a member of a racist facebook group. This prompted the University of Maryland Police to contact the FBI. Now the case is being investigated as a possible hate crime. Urbankski, the man who stabbed Collins, was a member of “racist facebook groups:”

The group, Alt-Reich: Nation, was deleted hours after they discovered a member had stabbed an African-America. Sean Urbanski’s profile is still up at the time of this article, however, the privacy settings have suspiciously been changed. Urbanksi couldn’t have done this, as he is incarcerated in prison.

Police say the Facebook group was biased against women, Latinos, members of the Jewish faith and especially African Americans. Police did not say if they had any evidence showing Urbanski was an active member. The FBI will now be investigating this, as they have been called in by the University of Maryland Police Department.
